Servicing & Maintenance for Businesses of all Sizes
Vehicle and Fleet servicing and maintenance are among the most significant costs for businesses and play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations.
At The HGV Workshop, we understand how critical it is for HGV operators—whether in logistics, construction, or waste management—to keep their vehicles running efficiently and reliably. High breakdown rates and underperforming trucks simply aren’t an option. That’s why we focus on providing tailored, dependable services that help reduce downtime and keep your fleet in peak condition.

Arrange Your Maintenance Plan Today
Avoid costly breakdowns and extend the life of your fleet with a tailored maintenance plan from The HGV Workshop. Our proactive approach ensures your HGVs stay road-ready, reducing unplanned downtime.
What’s Included in Our Plans:
• Regular servicing and inspections
• Detailed maintenance logs
• Compliance with HGV safety regulations
HGV drivers are required by law to perform daily checks before starting their journey. These include inspecting tyre condition and pressure, checking brakes and lights, ensuring mirrors are properly aligned, and verifying fluid levels like oil, coolant, and screen wash. Any visible leaks or damage should be reported and addressed immediately.
The frequency of PMIs depends on vehicle usage but is typically every 6–12 weeks. For vehicles operating under heavy strain or in challenging conditions, inspections might be needed every 4–8 weeks. These checks ensure vital components such as brakes, steering, and suspension are functioning correctly to keep your vehicle safe and compliant.
Preventative maintenance is a proactive approach to keeping your fleet running smoothly. It helps reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns, lowers repair costs, extends the lifespan of your vehicles, and improves safety. Regular maintenance also ensures your vehicles meet regulatory standards and operate efficiently.
If your vehicle doesn’t pass its PMI, the identified issues must be repaired before the vehicle is put back into service. At SS Commercials, we provide a comprehensive repair service to resolve faults quickly and ensure your vehicle meets compliance standards, minimising any disruption to your operations.
Maintenance records and defect reports are essential for compliance and fleet management. Defect reports, including “nil defect” sheets, must be retained for at least 15 months. Each report should detail any issues found, actions taken to fix them, and the date of repairs. Keeping thorough records helps ensure your fleet is audit-ready at all times.
